Anticipation: Farmers’ Market & First Friday

picture-4What luck! Two highly anticipated events are happening this Friday. First, the start of St. Helena’s Farmers’ Market. If you haven’t been, you are missing out on something wonderfully small-town. Through the summer months I often meet my coworkers for coffee and pastries and a stroll through the booths, an exercise which we slyly call “staff meetings.” (Although, now that I live in Napa, the market is a convenient stop on my way to work, so I can pop by on any old Friday. Happiness!) What will I buy this Friday? Flowers or farm-fresh eggs or fish? All three, I think.

As you know, I have also been beside myself with thrill over the Cheers! St. Helena First Friday events. Cries of, “It’s about time!” and “What a great idea!” have been heard all over town. The general consensus is: finally. And this Friday we will enjoy the fruits of Todd’s (and so many others’) hard work and generosity. Just take a look at the Cheers! St. Helena website to see the outpouring of support from wineries, shops and individuals across the valley and beyond.

If you’re in town do stop by. This event (the first of many) promises to be just what we’ve all been craving these days: good, old fashioned camaraderie, Napa Valley style.
